2 minutes south of DT Asheville sits this casually chic yet humble bakery/restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. I can't get enough of the food and bread here right now. I bless the road my friend Preston walks on for introducing me to this delicious find. First off go early for any meal you plan on, breakfast/lunch or dinner as there is limited seating. So for lunch head over at 11:30, dinner 5-5:30 to insure a table as there are no reservations as of this writing. Ok now for the food, the bread is out of this world and immediately transports me to Europe, I could write a book about it, crunchy on the outside soft and heavenly inside, ask for the pad of salted butter. The french omelette, a regular item, reminds me of my days living in Paris and being spoiled by the "out of this world food". The dishes that change weekly and daily are as good, just go, you wont be dissapointed.

We had lunch here a few weeks ago and the baked salmon was so juicy and flavorful, I'm still dreaming of it! The husband likes all the pasta dishes and I prefer the lighter fare and the pizza's.
Offering varieties of fresh coastal Carolina seafood, organic local proteins, heirloom produce, and daily house-made breads and desserts. Hand-formed, artisan pizzas and fire-roasted specialties are created in our bespoke Italian wood-fire oven.

I think everyone I know loves this 131 Main! The food is consistent American cuisine served in a warm dimly lit lounge style dining room with banquet seating, you can also eat at the bar or outside when weather permits.
Enjoy the old Charleston charm of gas lamps, plank siding and a hickory wood fire grill. With a similar feel to the old French cooking suites, the full Chef’s table is a favorite for viewing the kitchen in action. Outside dining on the covered porch while watching the action in Biltmore Park is always entertaining.

The family just visited this newer edition to the rooftop dining/drinking experience in Asheville. Located on the 7th floor of the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Asheville, Soprana Rooftop Cucina offers an Italian-inspired menu featuring brick oven pizza (yum) using locally sourced ingredients. We particularly loved the meatball pizza, I can imagine making this a regular stop just for that delicious pizza! Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, indoor/outdoor dining, valet parking ($12) available, reservations recommended, especially on weekends.

First let me say, that I had a Southern grandma who made Amazing Fried chicken, so saying Griff's Fried chicken bites (it's not a bone in conventional style) is the best fried chicken I've ever had is HUGE, these fried chicken bites literally melt in your mouth. Plant is about 90% organic, often locally sourced, mostly gluten free, and vegan. They do not use animal products.
I never really liked vegan food before trying Plant, we were recommended by a freind who raved, so we went together and became fans. Our then 10 year old pescatarian even finished his plate which rarely happens!

About 10 miles from downtown Hendersonville and definitely worth the drive. Winery, yes not a brewery, come for the wine come for the outstanding views. The vineyard is atop the southeast slope of Point Lookout Mountain with 30 mile panoramic views. They have a calendar of music and wine events through September.
